The clock tower of the Heroic City of Huajuapan de León, Oaxaca, Mexico, is located in territory that was once insurgent, under the territorial demarcation commanded by the independence leader Valerio Trujano in 1812, when Huajuapan achieved the glory of liberation from the siege imposed by the Viceroyalty government, a victory written with the greatest honor in favor of the Independence of Mexico. The monumental clock is a tower built with a base of red quarry stone and well-carved apparent columns, in the Roman style and of the Corinthian order, aesthetically distributed and sculpted in pink quarry stone, as well as lintels and arches of the same special pink quarry stone, closing the top part with a four-faced clock and 120 cm in diameter, finishing with a dome with a handcrafted finish.
It was carried out from March 12, 2023 to June 6 of that same year.
The 2022-2024 Municipal Government of Heroica Ciudad de Huajuapan de León, Oaxaca, carried out the rehabilitation of the vehicular bridge at the corner of Mariano Tapia and Francisco Idalecio Madero streets. Built in 1997, the bridge was in need of repair. A particularly noteworthy feature is that each time the monumental clock strikes the hour, a musical piece is played, composed by musicians and composers from Huajuapan de León, such as the Canción Mixteca by José López Alavés and the Jarabe Mixteco compiled by Maestro [name missing].
Antonio Martínez Corro, Pray for you, by José Odi Barragán “Pepe Odi”, Hymn to the liberator of Huajuapan by Father Luis Martínez y Rivera, with music by the brilliant composer and musician Tirso Paez, among other significant and extraordinary melodies of the locality and with this the identity of the Municipality of Heroic city of Huajuapan de León Oaxaca, Mexico is reinforced through music.
