Huajuapan de León, Oaxaca. With the participation of more than 30 exhibitors from Oaxaca, Puebla and Guerrero, the Municipal Government of Huajuapan de León inaugurated the 5th Mezcal Fair 2026, an event that seeks to strengthen the regional economy, promote wild agave and preserve one of the most representative traditions of the Mixteca region.
The inauguration was led by the municipal president, Luis de León Martínez Sánchez, who highlighted the importance of creating spaces that allow the work of the mezcal producers of the region to be made visible, boosting their economic growth and the promotion of their products at the state and national level.
The fair brings together producers from communities such as Santa María Xochixtlapilco, Rancho Jesús, Rancho Rincón, Rancho Dolores, Rancho Ramírez and San Pedro Yodoyuxi, recognized for the artisanal production of mezcal from wild agave.
The event began with a traditional parade that traveled through the main streets of the city to the fairgrounds, where in addition to the mezcal offerings, attendees can enjoy local gastronomy, music and cultural expressions that strengthen the identity of the region.
State and municipal authorities agreed that this fair represents an opportunity to boost tourism, generate economic benefits, and recognize the efforts of the mezcal masters who keep alive an ancestral tradition that brings prestige to the Mixteca region.
The 2026 Mezcal Fair will remain open to the public for several days, consolidating itself as one of the most important events for the cultural and economic promotion of Huajuapan de León.
